Tracking healthy eating habits often focuses on what not to eat, requiring cumbersome food tracking of every bit of food that leaves users feeling like they should restrict their diet rather than enjoy eating. This project explores a new approach to promoting healthy eating by emphasizing the positive aspects of dietary choices.

The target users for this app are adults who want to invest a few minutes a day to track and improve their health with technology and expert guidance at an affordable price.

Competitor Landscape
Direct competitors: My initial inspiration for this product was born out of frustration in the availability of any sort of app that tracks just plant-based food consumption. One option currently exists with a very poor user experience that I abandoned after a few days of use.
Indirect competitors: Beyond this goal, the app store is saturated with options to track health and foods eaten with various additional features. These are all well and good IF you either have a specific goal in mind or you really want to dedicate a significant amount of time to tracking your meals.

By building a user journey map, I explored the potential future customer’s experience to gain an understanding of how the customer experience develops over time with business goals and KPIs.
Design
Creating the User Flow
To start the design process, I began documenting my ideas with pencil and paper to think about how the content can be divided and what the layout should be.
Building the Brand
I created a brand that exudes the freshness of a plant-based diet with a natural green color palette and simple food photography. The typography pairs an elegant, decorative sans serif, Syne, for headers with a highly-legible sans serif, Proxima Nova, for body copy.
The logo design stacks leafs to create a plant that emulates the building of a healthy habit.
